APPEAL TO THE ASSYRIAN PEOPLE AND SOCIETY ON THE 31ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE ASSYRIA LIBERATION PARTY

On the 31st anniversary of the founding of the Assyria Liberation Party we salute the Assyrian people with respect, pride, and a sense of national responsibility.

For thirty-one years, our party has tirelessly strived to defend and develop the national identity, history, language, culture, and legitimate rights of the Assyrian nation, one of the most ancient peoples of Mesopotamia. During this long struggle, our people have endured wars, forced migrations, discrimination, oppression, and political isolation and in their ancestral homeland of Iraq and Syria they were often treated as second-class citizens. However the Assyrian people are not guests in these lands. Assyrians are one of the indigenous and state-forming peoples of Mesopotamia. The roots of our millennia-old civilization are deeply rooted in history and the land itself. The history of our people is inseparable from the history of Mesopotamia, and this fact cannot be challenged by any political events, any pressure or any policy of denial.

Today, we once again emphasize that the political, cultural, administrative, and geographical rights of the Assyrian people must be fully recognized, constitutionally guaranteed and protected under international law. The right of our people to self-determination is a fundamental national right. In the regions where we primarily reside Iraq and Syria, genuine political representation, local self-government mechanisms, and a secure living environment must be ensured.

Unfortunately, some individuals, groups and even certain religious circles operating in the homeland and in the diaspora sacrifice the inalienable national and historical rights of the Assyrian people to various political forces, governments and foreign interests for their own narrow, mercenary goals. Such an understanding, which turns our people's common cause into a bargaining chip, is unacceptable. The national rights, identity, history, and future of the Assyrian people are not at the disposal of any single individual or institution. These rights are the common property of our nation and cannot, under any circumstances, be transferred, negotiated, or ignored for political gain.

At the same time we must carefully consider irresponsible actions and initiatives that harm the national interests of our people and weaken the spirit of unity and common struggle. No personal, institutional, or narrow group interests can rise above our national cause. At this historical juncture it is everyone's responsibility to unite around the shared goals of our people.

On this occasion, we call on all Assyrian (Chaldean, Syriac, Yazidi) political parties, civil society organizations, youth movements, intellectuals, and religious leaders let us put aside our differences and unite around common national goals. Unity is more necessary than ever in the face of the threats and challenges facing our people.

The voice of the Assyrian people must be stronger and a common political vision must be created to achieve our national rights. Today is a time for unity, not division solidarity, not separation national responsibility, not passivity. At the same time, we advocate peace, mutual respect and fraternal coexistence with all peoples living in our region. Recognition of the rights of the Assyrian people is a fundamental requirement not only for our people but also for establishing justice, stability and lasting peace in the region.

On the 31st anniversary of the founding of the Assyria Liberation Party, we once again declare that we will resolutely continue our struggle for the freedom, dignity, unity, and legitimate national rights of the Assyrian people.
