On April 24, on the eve of the 111th anniversary of the tragic events that took place in Ottoman Turkey we commemorate the great catastrophe that left an indelible mark on the memory of the Assyrian people. Years pass but we once again call on the international community to recognize historical facts in the name of justice.

April 24 is not only a day of remembrance; it is also a day of confrontation and remembrance. Between 1914 and 1918, as a result of the policies pursued under the administration of the Committee of Union and Progress the Assyrian people like other Christian peoples in Turkey were subjected to systematic massacres and forced migration. In this process known as Seyfo our people were persecuted across a vast geographical area primarily in Hakkari, Tur Abdin, Urmia, and Mosul. Our villages were destroyed, hundreds of thousands of people were killed and the survivors were forced to seek refuge in exile.

This historical fact undoubtedly constitutes genocide. Denying this fact is an injustice not only to the past but also to the present and future.

Today, the Assyrian people continue to struggle to preserve their existence on their lands particularly in Iraq and Syria. Migration, security concerns, and the erosion of identity remain the main threats facing our people.

As the Assyrian Liberation Party we resolutely declare:

We will continue our struggle for recognition of the crimes committed against our people.

We will never allow our history to be denied.

We will expand our organized struggle to defend our language, culture, and identity.

We will work to ensure that the Assyrian people take their rightful place on the international stage.

On this occasion April 24, we not only honor the memory of our suffering but also declare our will to survive and our unity in the sacred struggle. Our call to all Assyrians is: never forget your roots!

The Assyrian people have lived, are alive, and will live, no matter what.
