ASSYRIA LIBERATION PARTY PRESS RELEASE ON THE SITUATION IN SYRIA

Despite recent events in Syria, which have once again revealed the systematic and deliberate disregard for the rights of the Assyrian people, the Assyria Liberation Party remains true to its original position and openly declares its support for Syria's territorial integrity.

The fall of the Assad regime and the Assyrian people's aspirations for freedom and security were instantly swept away by the actions of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces, leaving the Assyrian people yearning once again for the Assad era.

The assassination of Deacon David Jendo, one of the leaders of the Assyrian national movement in Syria who advocated for the peaceful coexistence of peoples, the forced demographic changes in Assyrian villages on the Khabur River, which are currently populated by internally displaced Arabs and Kurds, and the closure of Assyrian national and church schools in Qamishli and other towns, with a ban on the teaching of subjects related to the foundations of Assyrian identity, have become a chain of deliberate infringements on the rights of the Assyrian population in Syria.

As political conflicts between supporters of President Al-Shara and Kurdish leader Mazloum Abdi escalate, we once again hear and see slogans about the "brotherhood of nations" chanted by Kurds in some European cities, waving Assyrian and Kurdish flags. These slogans can no longer conceal the bitter truth of betrayal and neglect that took place in Syria. At the same time, attempts to portray the current Syrian leadership as noble negotiators are far from the truth, as we remember how their leaders desecrated Christian holy sites and forced Christians to leave their homes and ancestral lands.

Brotherhood is achieved not by words, but by fair treatment of one another. To date, not a single Kurdish political leader has openly and clearly addressed the infringed rights of the Assyrian people. The Kurds have chosen the path of self-satisfaction, casting aside the interests of all other common in Syria. Furthermore, they have begun to impose their doctrines on the indigenous assyrians, aiming to erase their own identity and assimilate them into the new Kurdish society of northern Syria.

What is frightening is that, against this backdrop, forces within Assyrian political structures support the Kurdish project, a clear manifestation of intellectual blindness and political madness.

The Assyrian people—the most ancient people of the Middle East—cannot become pawns in someone else's game, they are not guests on their own land. Even the name Syria derives from Assyria, and this historical fact is undeniable.

The Assyria Liberation Party demands:

• All internally displaced persons must be evicted from Assyrian villages on the Khabur River and returned to their places of permanent residence;

• The dignified return of the Assyrian population to their villages must be ensured, which must become part of Syrian state policy;

• The Assyrian people must be constitutionally recognized as the indigenous and state-forming people of Syria;

• The Assyrian language and culture must be recognized as an integral part of national identity within the framework of Syrian unity;

• Fair representation of the Assyrian people in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government must be ensured;

• A secular, institutional constitution based on law and justice must be adopted;

• The principles of equal rights for citizens, the concept of a common homeland, and coexistence must be constitutionally strengthened;

• The national, cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity of Syria must be constitutionally affirmed;

• If a decision is made to federalize Syria, ensuring equal federal rights for Assyrians alongside other national or religious groups.
